Working with Alexandra Kasmin, we took existing elements such as the pool area and its relationship to the house to conceive of outdoor rooms and transition spaces. The entryway to the gardens is bordered by a formal privet hedge, leading to a gorgeous lawn patio with views out to the pond. The lush green turf of the patio is crisply outlined with bluestone and ilex glabra, defining it from the larger lawn area. Even the driveway proves to be a focal point leading to the house, lined with crushed white oyster shells and bordered with luxurious flowering perennials.
